Use the Somebody, Wanted, But, So, (Then) acronym to help you summarize the story you read. Remember to ONLY include the important details. Also, do not include dialogue in your summary.

Character Traits
Use a character trait to describe the main character. Remember to use a detail from the story to support the character trait. Please use the Character Trait List to help you come up with a character trait.
Post Card to a Character
Write a letter to the main character. Explain what you thought about the character in the story. If you made a connection with the character (text-to-self connection), then explain your connection to the main character. Also, please don't forget to ask the character a question. The question must relate to the story (no random questions).
Poetry
Identify rhyming words and words/phrases that are repeated throughout the poem. Authors will repeat words and/or phrases that are important.
Also, who is the voice in the poem and how does the person feel according to what is happening in the poem and the words used to express their feelings. Draw a picture to show what you imagined as you read the poem. Write any words or phrases from the poem that helped your create your drawing. Lastly, explain what the poem is mainly about and the details that support the main point of the poem. |
